You are on the platform, the train is coming in, and you remember the printer paper. Today the fastest route is the Lock Screen widget: tap, type, save. With Siri it would be shorter. Say “Hey Siri, add to Notion: buy printer paper” and a row appears in your inbox database, tagged, while the phone stays in your pocket.
The official Notion app cannot do this. Siri can open Notion AI for you, and that is it. People work around it with the Shortcuts app and a Notion API token, which works but takes an afternoon to set up. I wrote that up in adding a note to Notion with Siri. The version I am considering would live inside Instant Note for Notion and use the database and the tags you have already connected.
How it would work
- Instant Note would register an App Shortcut with a fixed phrase, something like “Add to Notion in Instant Note”. Fixed phrases work on every iPhone running iOS 16 or later. No Apple Intelligence needed.
- Siri asks for the text. Instant Note sends it to the Notion API as a new page in your default database. If the text ends with a tag name that matches one of your select options, that tag is set on the row.
- The same App Intent would show up in the Shortcuts app, in Spotlight, and as a Control Center control you can put on the Action button.
- No signal on the platform: the note joins the offline queue and is sent later, the same as a note typed in the app.
- Free-form Siri, where you phrase it however you like, depends on Apple Intelligence. That is in beta, English only, iPhone 15 Pro or later, and not in the EU yet. I would start with the fixed phrase and add the free-form version when it is reliable.
Two limits I cannot remove. Siri on Apple Watch does not pass requests to third-party apps, so this would be iPhone only; the watch is a separate idea. And on Android, Google’s equivalent for Gemini is not open to outside developers yet, so this would start on iOS.
Is this built?
No. Nothing on this page exists yet. I am writing it to find out whether enough people want it before I spend two or three weeks on App Intents. If you would use it, the button below is the vote.
