Hands on the steering wheel, or on a saucepan, and a thing to remember. “Hey Siri, add to Notion: buy printer paper” is what you want to say. Whether anything happens depends on what is installed and how much set-up you did beforehand.
This page is the honest state of Siri and Notion as of October 2026. Short version: Siri can open Notion, Shortcuts can create a page, and a real “add a row with tags by voice” does not exist yet.
Can Siri add a note to Notion?
Not directly. Say “Hey Siri, open Notion” and the app opens, after its usual loading screen. The Siri integration Notion ships starts Notion AI’s chat. It does not create a page, does not add a row to a database, and does not know what your tags are.
iOS 27 changed what Siri can do with third-party apps. Apps that adopt Apple’s App Intents schemas, like Things and Todoist did in September 2026, can take a spoken sentence and turn it into a task without opening. Notion has not documented anything like that for its databases, and the help pages still describe the Notion AI entry point only. Siri AI is also beta, English first, and limited to iPhone 15 Pro and newer, so even where an app supports it, not everyone has it.
The Shortcuts workaround
The Notion app provides actions to the Shortcuts app. Guides in 2026 point to “Create Document Without Opening”, which takes a title and a body and a destination, and “Create a database page”. Combine one of those with the Dictate Text action and you have a voice note that reaches Notion without the app opening.
What it cannot do: set a select or multi-select property. The documented actions take a title and text. Your tags stay empty, and sorting happens later.
An alternative is to skip the Notion actions and call the Notion API from Shortcuts with Get Contents of URL and an integration token. That can set any property. It also means pasting a secret token into a Shortcut and writing JSON by hand on a phone. Some people enjoy that. If you do not, the first version is enough.
How to do it today
- Make sure the Notion app is installed and signed in.
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap the plus button to create a new shortcut.
- Add the action Dictate Text. Set it to stop listening after a pause.
- Add Notion’s “Create a database page” action (or “Create Document Without Opening”). Choose the database. Put the Dictated Text into the title.
- Name the shortcut something you can say, like “Add to Notion”. Tap Done.
- Say “Hey Siri, Add to Notion”. Siri runs the shortcut, listens, and the page appears in the database with your sentence as the title.
If the shortcut asks for permission the first time, allow it. Expect the occasional misheard word; dictation is dictation.
